However, if you are offered a complimentary limousine, make sure you ask about the insurance and licensing on the vehicle as some limo hire companies have limos which they regularly hire out as complimentary vehicles and they may not meet the same regulations as the limousines which regularly carry paying passengers.
While the complimentary limousine may not make as many trips as the regular limos, it still needs full insurance for when it does go out. Therefore, it is up to the limo hire company to find an insurance policy which has full coverage when the complimentary limo goes out, but the limo hire company is not paying excessively when the complimentary limo is not in use.
While some limo hire companies think that because they are not charging for the free limousine it is not governed by the same limo hire laws, there is still insurance and damages to pay if the free limo is in an accident and these are likely to be a lot more expensive than insurance payments.
Also, obviously the complimentary limousine is not really free as you are only getting it because you have already paid the limo hire company for the other vehicles. Therefore, don’t feel as though you have no right to demand a safe and fully insured limousine just because it is ‘free’.
